I can remember many years ago of riding my 10 speed up the hill to the
comicbook shop to pick up the
new issues of Outlanders and Dirty Pair. I grew
up on a
healthy diet of X-men and Spiderman.
I practically overdosed on Jim Lee. I learned to
appreciate the work of Art Adams
and to despise anything related to Rob Liefeld.
I
loved Comics. I couldn't get enough of them, and
like so many, I had a goal in my
life of being the next household
name, the next Todd McFarlane...
I
couldn't get enough sequential art to satisfy my
addiction. My collection grew, and with it, my
desire to be a comicbook artist.
I still remember the Voltron comics I would draw
on lined paper
and sell to my 4th grade class...
Then
something happened. That's when I got a little sidetracked...
I
joined the United States Army in 1994. Swearing to defend my country, I
enlisted on my 18th
birthday,
and I continue to serve to this day. I still draw.
A LOT. I still write, and I still have dreams of
finally
publishing my masterwork.
I
still have the very real, achievable dream of finally
getting my self-published work off the ground. I've
been working on a story on and
off for the past 6 years, and it's just sitting
there, marinating.. Maturing,
maybe... I get excited just thinking
about it! It's a great story, an epic tale of Fantasy
and Romance, a tale
of War and Civil unrest,
with a LOT of action and suspense thrown in to shake
things up a bit. Good
stuff. It's a story that,
if printed as a comic, would encompass no fewer
than 10 issues. I intend for it to
ultimately be a graphic
Novel. But projects such as these cost MONEY. (sigh...
The dream lives on.....)
A
bit about me...
My all time favorite artists and major influences,
in no particular order:
Art Adams, Masamune Shirow, Adam Warren.
Frank Cho. Frank Miller. Art Adams. Steve Dillon.
Garth Ennis. Alan Davis. R.A. Salvatore. Bart Sears.
Eastman and Laird. Katsuhiro Otomo. Jamie Hewlett.
Stephen King.
Tools I use...
I
do all my art on 11x17 or 8.5x11 Bristol, and
all my colors in Photoshop or
Paintshop Pro. I use a Mustek
1200 III Ep Scanner, and a Wacom Graphics tablet.
